Monterrey orchestra residency | Italy and Patagonia Innovation Summits | Chesapeake Season 3.

OAcademy Music conservatory convenes in Monterrey, Mexico, for its first-ever residency in alliance with the governor of Nueva Leon and ESMDM. The Global Arts MBA adds the University of Chicago and Stanford social innovation institute as curating partners. Montero at Prager concert series features James Ehnes, Khatia Buniatishvili, Gautier Capuçon, and other global starts.

2024

Michigan residence with Yo-Yo Ma immersion in the South America | Innovation Summit, and Montero at Prager Season 2.

OAcademy Music conservatory brings the Orchestra of the Americas to Michigan with Yo-Yo Ma and Kayhan Kalhor. GLI gathers for Innovation Summits in Arequipa, Peru, and Chilean Patagonia. Lideres Latam hosts its first Innovation summit in the Colombian Andes. Montero at Prager concert series features Beatrice Rana, Nadine Sierra, and other renowned artists.

2023

Artist diploma & composing studio | Chesapeake concert season | Italy & Chile summits

The OA Group co-creates the Montero at Prager series with concerts from Joshua Bell to Yuja Wang. The GLI issues the world’s first MBA in Arts Innovation, holding Innovation Summits in Patagonia and Tuscany. OAcademy introduces a 6-month Artist Diploma, with Piano Lab residencies in Geneva and Easton, as Orchestra Institute fellows lead a Mexico Concert Tour.

Palm Beach Alm Beach Innovation Summit | Lideres Central America | Carolina Herrera Prize

OAcademy Music Conservatory launches Gabriela Montero Piano Lab and Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellowship. Líderes Emprendedores expands to include Panama and Costa Rica. The Global Leaders Institute holds its annual Summit at The Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach. Carolina Herrera, Paquito D’Rivera, and Chucho Valdes celebrated at the OA Group Awards Gala.

2021

Yo-Yo Ma codex release | Oacademy becomes music conservatory | Hilti Partnership Launch

OAcademy expands to a music conservatory, introducing a 6-month curriculum that includes recording with Yo-Yo Ma. OA Group launches Accelerator as a teaching arm for institutional partners from Colombia to Miami Dade County. The Global Leaders Institute holds its first European Innovation Summit and establishes a long-term partnership with the Hilti Foundation.

GLI Launches Spanish-Language Edition | (Re)Setting The Stage Conference Born | Linn Album Release

The Orchestra of the Americas Group releases its latest album on Linn Records to critical acclaim. The OA Group creates OAcademy in response to the pandemic as the first global music academy. The GLI creates a Spanish-language parallel edition—Lideres Emprendedores—for Colombian arts entrepreneurs in alliance with Fundación Bolivar Davivienda.

2019

GLI curriculum multiplies | Mexico Concerts Coast-To-Coast

The Orchestra of the Americas makes a historic coast-to-coast tour of Mexico, including performances in Palacio de Bellas Artes, Sala Plácido Domingo del Conjunto Santander, and Teatro Bicentenario, as well as in underserved rural locations in Mexico’s interior. The Global Leaders Institute expands its faculty and curating institutions, supporting an annual Cohort of 50 participants.

2018

GLI expands to 9 academic curators | Poland, Ukraine, Germany, & Uk Concerts

The Orchestra of the Americas tours Europe, debuting at the Edinburgh International Festival, The Rheingau Festival, and Hamburg’s ElbPhilharmonie. The project includes commercial recordings in Poland and a groundbreaking series of concerts across Ukraine. The Global Leaders Institute expands its annual Cohort to 42 participants, representing 25 nations. Fieldwork sites broaden to cover five continents.

2017

GLI opens to the world | Chile, Argentina, Brazil concerts

The Orchestra of the Americas tours across South America with Gautier Capuçon, Gabriela Montero, and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, performing in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. The Global Leaders Institute expands its academic curators to a network of nine world-class institutions, including Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, and Duke Universitie.

GLI expands to Africa | Estonia, Latvia, Lituania, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Germany concerts

The Orchestra of the Americas showcases the Americas on tour across the Baltic and Nordic regions. Highlight performances occur in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany. The Global Leaders Institute grows to include Field Assignments in Africa and worldwide applicants from 40+ nations.

2015

Mcgill & Oxford Join GLI | Asian Expansion | Pan American Games Tour

The Orchestra of the Americas is the headlining orchestra at the Pan American Games in Toronto—touring in Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick, after holding a Residence in Moncton, New Brunswick. The Global Leaders Institute partners with Oxford and McGill Universities to offer fellows certification in Social Entrepreneurship and expands its fieldwork network to include Asia.

2014

GLI expands to 17 Countries | Orchestra tours The Dr, Jamaica, & Haiti

The Orchestra of the Americas leads a pioneering tour of the Caribbean, performing concerts in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica and leading community engagement in Haiti. The Global Leaders Institute expands to include 17 Field Hosts across 13 countries, while its faculty grows to more than 30 lecturers from academic institutions around the globe.

Launch Of The Global Leaders Institute For Arts Innovation

The Global Leaders Institute for Arts Innovation is launched by The Orchestra of the Americas Group as a professional development resource for social entrepreneurs in music, connecting 24 rising arts change-makers with a series of Field Assignments around the globe.

Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize

The Orchestra of the Americas leads a 12-concert, 6-country tour across Central America with guest artists that include James Ehnes, Vanessa Perez, and DaXun Zhang. The concert tour features the first symphonic performance in the history of Belize and the founding of The National Youth Orchestra of Belize.

2012

Asian Debut

The Orchestra of the Americas leads an 11-concert national tour of Chile and performs with acclaimed violinist Sarah Chang and pianist Louis Lortie in cities ranging from La Serena to Frutillar. A 12-city China Tour marks the Orchestra’s Asian debut, with a Residence and Tour under the leadership of Jose Serebrier.

Berlin Residence | Philip Glass California Residence

The Orchestra of the Americas leads a 17-concert tour of Mexico, performing in Mexico’s most famed theaters, including Palacio Bellas Artes, with artists including Philipp Quint, Mariachi Vargas, Ilyich Rivas, & Carlos Miguel Prieto. The Orchestra performs in the Berlin Young Euro Classic Festival and Philip Glass’s Days and Nights Festival in California.

2010

Caribbean debut | World Economic Forum Concert | Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil

The Orchestra of the Americas performs at Carnegie Hall with Valery Gergiev, Julian Rachlin, Joshua Bell, and Carlos Miguel Prieto to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The World Economic Forum. The Orchestra performs 24 concerts on tour across Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil under the batons of Carlos Miguel Prieto and Dante Anzolini featuring Joshua Bell and Philip Glass. The Orchestra presents two concerts in Santo Domingo’s Teatro Nacional as the 2010 Cultural Capital of the Americas.

2009

Vatican debut | Canadian debut

The Orchestra of the Americas tours the United States and Canada, including the Domaine Forget, Palais Montcalm, and Knowlton Festivals with Louis Lortie. The Orchestra helps launch the OASIS Caribbean development initiative of the Organization of American States. It performs at the Vatican with Helmuth Rilling in the Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra.

2008

Aoas General Assembly Colombia | Panama | Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina

The Orchestra performs of the Americas for the OAS Annual General Assembly in Medellín with saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera and soprano Brenda Feliciano. The Orchestra tours Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, featuring pianist Nelson Freire and cellist Antonio Meneses led by Carlos Miguel Prieto and Marcelo Lehninger, with composer Marlos Nobre.

Maazel Castleton Opera

The Orchestra of the Americas performs Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia at Castleton Farms under the baton of Lorin Maazel, launching the first Castleton Residency for Young Artists.

Domingo Recording | Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, United Kingdom

The Orchestra of the Americas makes its European debut in Belgium, Italy, France, Germany, and England with Plácido Domingo, Pilos Popovic, Plamena Mangova, Edmundo Ramirez, and Gabriela Montero. The Orchestra performs four concerts featuring Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion under the baton of conductor Kent Nagano.

2005

Harvard Residency | Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina

The Orchestra of the Americas tours Venezuela, Colombia, and Argentina, led by Carlos Miguel Prieto and Gustavo Dudamel, with Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero. The Orchestra’s chamber ensemble performs at Harvard University, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Carnegie Hall for Paquito D’Rivera’s 50th birthday celebration.

2004

White House debut | Costa Rica residency

The Orchestra of the Americas performs in Mexico City, Puebla, Cuernavaca, and Morelia as part of a national tour of Mexico. The Orchestra’s chamber ensemble performs in Boston, New York, Washington, and Costa Rica. The First Lady of Mexico and the First Lady of the United States attend a concert in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.

2003

The Orchestra of the Americas performs 17 concerts on tour across Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Peru, and Mexico under the baton of Carlos Miguel Prieto. The Orchestra’s chamber ensemble performs with Paquito D’Rivera in the United Nations and The Kennedy Center.

2002

Usa, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina

The Orchestra of the Americas debuts with Yo-Yo Ma and other world-class soloists in a five-country tour that features performances at Washington’s Kennedy Center, Boston’s Symphony Hall, Venezuela’s Teresa Carreño Mexico’s Bellas Artes, and Teatro Colón Argentina, among other locations.
